Modular robot cell design – for loading and unloading 5-axis milling machines including pallet supply via high racking
THE TASK
The skilled worker shortage, constant cost pressure and the desire for ever shorter delivery times demand solutions. A high level of flexibility in production is required, but this must not affect the quality of the parts – high accuracy is the be-all and end-all. The markets are becoming increasingly fast-moving, which is why our customer “ZIMM” is concentrating on process automation and digitalisation. This is the only way to react quickly and cost-effectively to short-term changes in production and to implement effective personnel planning.
THE SOLUTION
A modular automation cell for loading and unloading a 5-axis milling machine, as well as in pallet and part handling.
A large storage system is used to store various raw parts, which are then removed by the robot and prepared for processing.
Preparing the workpieces externally on the devices enables shorter loading and unloading times, as only one whole-device change takes place.
Batch sizes from 1 to large series can be manufactured in this cell. The organisation of the entire cell, including the processing machine, takes place via a master computer system.
The workpieces are processed in an OP10 and OP20 clamping in the cell and then discharged as a finished part via the storage system.
