MAFU-FLEXIBOWL Components
MAFU-FlexiBowl® executes a carefully designed sequence of operations to minimize idle time. FlexiBowl® is the only circularly designed parts feeding system: The parts scattered onto the FlexiBowl® surface by the hopper system are separated from one another by a combined rotation and vibration motion. Once separated, the parts can be detected by the vision system, and the coordinates required for part retrieval can be transmitted to the robot.

BENEFITS OF MAFU-FLEXIBOWL®

TRADITIONAL OPERATING PROCEDURE
Typically, a flexible feeding system performs three functions:
- Part feeding via the hopper system
- Part separation via the part feeding unit
- Part removal by the robot
With FlexiBowl®, these three functions occur simultaneously in three separate sectors of the rotating disc. This parallel process takes an average of 0.5 seconds—a benchmark in the market for flexible feeding systems

FLEXITRACK
FlexiTrack enables the tracking of rotating discs in the FlexiBowl®. In FlexiTrack mode, the vision system tracks the disc sector in front of the robot’s picking area, allowing both processes to run in parallel. In FlexiTrack mode, a second camera positioned in front of the hopper system monitors the component flow. This operating mode offers numerous advantages:
- increased productivity
- more stable cycle time
- reduced space requirements
- ideal for synchronized applications (e.g., rotary tables)
MULTIPLE FEEDING
Multiple feeding allows for the simultaneous feeding of up to 6 different part types within a single FlexiBowl® system, thereby minimizing space requirements and production costs. For maximum flexibility, each disc sector can be finished with a different surface, varying in terms of:
- Color
- Texture
- Surface adhesion
The surfaces are also available in FDA-compliant or antistatic versions. The multi-feed system is ideal for assembly, kit production, and workpiece carrier feeding when handling multiple components is required. The multi-feed system is available for FlexiBowl® 500, 650, and 800.
